It’s that time of year again. The time when we are forced to look back at the past year of our lives and wonder, where the heck did it all go? Christmas is over and while you may be getting reading for a fantastic new years eve party, if you’re anything like me, you can’t shake the feeling of regret.

The feeling of knowing you could have done so much more. I suppose, for me at least the end of the year is the only time of the year I feel a little less than optimistic. Why? Because I earnestly believe in the value of time. I believe we can get everything in this world, including money, back but time can never be given back. Therefore what I chose to do with that time is very important to me. I know each moment I am given on this earth is a gift from God and it is my responsibility to do everything I can with the moment.

So when I get to end of the year I can’t help but feel like I could have used my time better. Yet I am positive enough to know that if I focus on what I didn’t do, I will go crazy. So I am making the choice to focus on all I was able to accomplish in 2010. Here are a few of the things I have accomplished this year, completed dual enrollment course at community college, graduated high school with college credit and honours. Gotten into an amazing college with a full ride scholarship, earned my Girl Scout gold award, done numerous speaking engagements including speaking in Miami at a social media conference where the likes of Google were in attendance, launched my magazine, signed on with one of the biggest christian publishers in America and remembered to be thankful for all my blessings.

All in all, I’d say I’ve accomplished quite a bit and while I am proud of myself, I am mostly thankful to God for blessing me and for my family for always supporting me. Now I’ve told you what I am proud to have accomplished this year, why don’t you tell me what you are grateful to have accomplished in 2010.
Tomorrow it will be 2011 and I already have some amazing projects in the work for the new year. I am not going to list the things I wish to accomplish in 2011 because life has a way of screwing up plans. Instead I am going to make a committment to work even harder in the new year and continue to achieve my dreams. I hope my journey serves as inspiration for your own journey in 2011 and together we can make our lives quite beautiful. I promise as the projects I have in the work pan out I will keep you all informed but here’s a hint as to what I am working on, the re release of “The Guys The Roses and The Regrets”, numerous TV projects and the release of my second book, “Finding Your Inner Moxie”.
Alas, my friends it’s time for me to go get my party on and celebrate this brand new year that sparkles with promise and hope. I must say goodbye but before I do, I want to say one last thing. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your support is a huge inspiration to me and one of the reasons I work so hard. I am so blessed to have your support. Everyday I get messages on YouTube and Facebook telling me how I have helped people achieve their dreams and I cannot say how wonderful that makes me feel. If I am helping even one person, then I am a success. So to know I am helping so many people is beyond amazing. I want you to know that without you, my dreams wouldn’t be possible so thank you, thank you, thank you and a million times over, thank you.

25 Days of Christmas - Food, Cheer and Song

What’s up people!
Today is the second day of my 25 days of Christmas Holiday Blog and I have to admit being in college I am currently more worried about my numerous papers due then my Holiday traditions but as a December Wild Child I can’t ignore the wonder that is Christmas time. This morning I was wondering what to write about today and then one of my good friends sent me this great quote by one of my writing idols, J.R.R Tolkien

Tolkein was perhaps one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and it turns out he was pretty smart. I thought the quote above was perfect for the holiday season. How about this year instead of fussing about who has the most gold a.k.a who gets the most expensive present, we focus on food, cheer and song a.k.a the simple things in life. What if we valued spending time with our families, eating good food and if you enjoy singing, singing christmas carols or any other song you feel obliged to sing. Why don’t we value the simple things over our hoarded gold?

The simple answer, we’re humans. Which means we’re greedy and want the new shiny things but as humans we also have the capacity to change. So this year instead of your entire christmas season being about who got the best most expensive present why don’t we focus on good food, being cheerful and singing our hearts out. Just a thought.

The Leaves of Change

Hola Amazing Readers!

Since being a kid I’ve loved autumn and the beauty of the leaves. However living in Florida for the past six years we don’t really have autumn. It’s always green in Florida and if leaves do fall they simply fall off, no pretty colors for Floridians. So I am officially excited right now as I sit outside at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina as golden, red and orange leaves appear and slowly fall to the ground.

It’s quite beautiful here with the mountains all turning brilliant shades of color. It really reminds me of the wonder of God and how every moment of beauty is a blessing. As the leaves change here in North Carolina a lot of changes are going on in my life as well.

I just finished mid terms at college and I can’t believe I am half way through my first semester as a college student but what I wanted to talk to you, my awesome reader, about is the changes that are happening in regards to my books. If you follow me on twitter @gracehatton you will probably know that I recently signed a contract with a major christian publishing house, Bridge Logos, for not ony “The Guys The Roses and The Regrets; The Girl to Girl Dating Guide” but also my second book in the girl to girl guide series “Finding Your Inner Moxie; The Girl to Girl Confidence Guide”

What does this mean? Well “The Guys The Roses and The Regrets” will be re released on a huge scale, i.e going on the shelves in Barnes and Nobles and Borders and my second book will be coming out straight after the re-release of “The Guys The Roses and The Regrets”. To say I am officially excited would be an understatement. I have worked so hard to get a traditional publishing deal and I finally have a great one!

So with this fantastical news comes a lot of new responsibility and I am looking for your help. I have been so blessed to have loyal readers (or should I call you fans?) like you and to have support from all around the globe. I am so grateful for everything you have already done for me and my books but what I really want to do is create a movement of readers spreading the news about the new release of “The Guys The Roses and The Regrets” and of “Finding Your Inner Moxie”

I suppose like a musician has a street team that’s what I would love to create but I am honestly not sure how. Any suggestions? The first thing we could do is if you have a facebook, myspace or twitter account sending out a quick update that would say something like this

I am Speaking in Miami Trick

So who loves Miami? I do! Since moving to the sunny state of Florida I have been to Miami quite a few times but on September 29th I will be in Miami for a completly new reason. What’s that reason? Well keep reading to find out. Over the past couple years I have been blessed with the success of my book ‘The Guys The Roses & The Regrets‘ on Amazon and I have been blessed to call myself a best selling teen author.

As I continue to grow as an author I am stepping out of my comfort zone and beginning to speak. Public speaking is one of the things many people want to do but never actually do. I am proud to say I am doing. I have been speaking at various local events around the Central Florida area but on September 29th I will be speaking at the Performance Marketing Expo in Miami, FL. I am very excited. The Performance Marketing Expo is at the Eden Roc Hotel on South Beach which is truly beautiful.

Along with some other amazing presenters including the CEO of myyearbook.com and Obama’s social media campaign coordinator. I will be speaking on the topic of social media and how I used social media to become a best selling teen author. My session is entitled ‘Social Media; The New Key to Success’

The Elusive College Laptop

As you may know I recently graduated high school and in about two weeks I am heading out to college which is great but also a little daunting. I am going to an out of state school in North Carolina which is many miles away from my sunny home in Orlando, FL.

One of the things that come along with a college career are college expenses. I am very blessed to be on a full ride scholarship apart from some loose change. I have most of the things for college apart from one elusive essential item, a laptop. As part of my college experience and part of my work a laptop is kind of essential. Graduation is Upon Us

It’s almost done, my high school career. First of all I don’t know why people call it a high school career. As a home schooled student I never considered high school a career. I just enjoyed learning and getting and education.

To me high school is a stepping stone towards our destiny and purpose. Yes we all have a destiny and purpose. I am very thankful that I know my purpose and destiny. However if you’re graduating like me and trying to figure out your destiny its okay. The truth is destiny is all about finding out what you love and pursuing it with a passion.

For me as a Christian I believe God appoints our destiny but if you’re not a christian or have another faith that doesn’t mean you don’t have a destiny. You do! You were put on this earth to do something great and as you graduate think about that. Think about all the possibilities out there. I pray that you’ll go confidently in the direction of your dreams and make everything you’ve ever wanted happen. Disappointment and Airplanes

So it’s officially May and usually I am quite fond of May but not this year. Why you might ask? Well its simply because the Pepsi Refresh Everything grant program is over and I didn’t win the $25k grant. That $25k grant would have been amazing and really helped me launch my magazine. Its disappointing to work so hard for something and then in the end have all your work count for nothing.

I know I am not the only one to be disappointed but my wounds are still fresh and whats a blog for if not to vent? But the real question is how are we supposed to act when life disppoints us. Do we sit around and moap about our bad luck or do we decide tofind another way around our promblem. My choice, I decide to get back up and fight. Some of the greastest moments in history came because someone decided not to give up but to fight for their dream.

Just because I didn’t win the grant doesn’t mean I am going to give up my dream. I am going to launch my magazine this summer no matter what! Losing the Pepsi Grant just means I have to find another way to fund it. So I encourage you if you’ve been disappointed like me recently, take a deep breath, decide on a new course of action, stand up and carry on pursuing your dream. Its that simple.

The other things I wanted to share with you is a song I am currently obsessed with me and has helped me through my disappointment. The song is Airplanes by B.O.B featuring Hayley Williams. The lyrics to this song are pretty awesome especially the chorus.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? I could really use a wish right, wish right now, wish right now.

The reason I love these lyrics is because its taking something we see everyday (airplanes) and turns them into the thing we need (shooting stars a.k.a a wish). Its a great song about how everyday we can find something simple and turn it into something beautiful. I also really like the beat and Hayley’s voice is perfect.

Hey Guys

So I have been blessed with a pretty amazing opportunity this week, as you may know as well as being a best-selling teen author, I am the CEO/Editor in Chief of my own online magazine. I haven’t really been focusing on the magazine that much because in order to get it out I needed funding. So back on March 1st I applied to the Pepsi Refresh Everything grant program. Every month Pepsi allows projects to submit their ideas to get fundings. In order to be entered you have to be in the first 1000 people to submit their idea. I was luck enough to get mine in as one of the first 1000 but even after that I still had to wait for approval.

For the month of March I’ve been waiting to see if my idea would get approved and amazingly enough my idea got approved! This morning on April 1st at 6am, my idea went live. So I am now in the running for a grant from Pepsi. However in order to get the grant I have to be in the top 10 in my category. How do I get to the top 10? With your help! Ode to Alice

Today is the release of the new Tim Burton movie ‘Alice in Wonerland’, personally I can’t wait to see it and I was going to see it today but my sister insisted we watched Valentines Day so my viewing of Alice in Wonderland will have to wait.

However with the release of this fun new movie, I wanted to discuss the character of Alice or more specifically heroines in general. As a writer heroines are quite fun to create because throughout history we have lived in a man’s world and as women we tend to be a tad more emotional. When a woman stands up for what they believe in, it tends to dramatic, non traditional and unexpected.

So in honour of Alice I wanted to share with you some of my favourite movie heroines of all time. Check out my quick list and let me know what you think and the list is in no particular order (in case you were wondering).

Mulan

Mulan was especially awesome. Brought up in a society where women were simply expected to marry Mulan pretended to be a boy so she could take her father’s place in the army. Mulan didn't take his place to escape her future marriage, she took that place in the army to save her father’s life. Now in the Disney version she goes off to become a national hero and land herself a cute captain. I am not sure how true that is to Chinese legend but either way Mulan was a pretty kick butt heroine and an amazing daughter.

Guinevere

Being an english girl the story of King Arthur is pretty much a part of my heritage. There are many stories of Arthur and Guinevere but my favourite is from the 2004 movie King Arthur. In this version Guinevere is part of the Woads, the true britons who are resisting invasion from the Romans and Saxons. King Arthur rescues her from a prison but once she is out she is pretty darn strong. She proves to be an expert archer and helps protect Arthur’s men. When it comes to the final battle she puts on her body paint, finds her fellow Woads and with Arthur’s knights takes down the Saxons. I like this version of Guinevere because it shows her as she probably was, a woman fighting for her country and not a complete damsel in distress. If you haven’t seen the 2004 movie King Arthur I suggest you watch it.

Eowyn

Eowyn is a character from Lord of the Rings, perhaps one of the best pieces of writing in history. In the books as in the movies Eowyn is the niece to the King Theoden. She is what they called a Shield Maiden trained to fight for her people however she is the last of her king and due to her King’s illness she cannot fight. Eowyn has a great love for her King, her people and country. After her King is healed, she defys all the rules and fights for Rohan anyway. In the last battle she even kills the Witch King, a nazgul one supposedly couldn’t be killed. Even though she loses her uncle and Aragon does not return her love not all hope is lost for Eowyn. If you read the books she goes on to rule her people for a time and then marry Farameir. With their union Gondor and Rohan were joined. So it all worked out in the end but it was her courage that led her to defy tradition, ride to battle and claim her glory.

Those are just a few of my favourite heroines, there are many more I could write about but those are some of the top ones for me. What did you think? Do you like my Heroines or Hate them? Awesome Upcoming Event – Virtual Children’s Book Fair

So this is a quick post about a pretty cool opportunity I’ve been presented with. From February 27th through to the 29th I will be participating in the first Annual Online Children’s Virtual Book Fair.

Think about a traditional book fair well a virtual is very similar apart from all the vendors a.k.a authors are presented online. While it’s called a children’s book fair the book’s represented range from children’s books all the way up to young adult books like my own.

I will be posting again later on in the week with the list of all the other participating authors. We will create an online community of authors and readers for the couple of days that the fair is going on .

14 Days of Love (The End) - Happy Valentines Day!

It’s the last day of our 14 Days of Love experiment, can you believe it? I know I can’t it seems like just yesterday I started this experiment but I think it was quite fun. I enjoyed blogging everyday (it’s been a while since I blogged every day) and I enjoyed looking over the different aspects of love.

So what should I talk about for the last day of 14 Days of Love? I could talk about Valentines Day, about its origins, I could talk about how to have a great Valentines Day and how to build on your relationship but honestly I believe Valentines Day is about love, all aspects of love and for me the best part of love is giving it away.

We all have a chance to make a difference in this world and the greatest way we can do that is by showing love to others. Instead of judging people or putting them down why don’t we try showing love. Go out of your way to show love in peoples lives, talk to the homeless, listen to those who are never heard, build up those who are torn down and be there for those who have no one. There are a million little ways to show love we just have to take the time to actually show it.

The Beatles did a great song called All You Need is Love which is true but part of love is taking action to show it. If you just have the love and keep it to yourself it’s not true love because true love isn’t selfish. So if you’re lucky enough to have love in your life share it and it’ll be heard around the world.

Love is what makes this world beautiful and we should celebrate it everyday. I suppose that was the point of this little experiment to remind you to celebrate love everyday in every way. I hope the 14 Days of Love experiment showed you that.

14 Days of Love – Ultimate Love

So it’s Valentines Day eve and this is going to be a short quick post since it is almost midnight. Tomorrow is Valentines Day and of course tomorrow I’ll be talking about love in relationships but tonight I wanted to talk about ultimate love. For me I believe firmly in Jesus Christ, loving God and loving life. I could go on and on about Gods love because it makes my life worth living but there’s an amazing video that will explain it better than I ever could.

See how beautiful that is? No matter what we do, no matter how we screw up or mess up God loves us like crazy. So as we prepare for Valentines Day tomorrow think about the love of God. The man who will never leave you no matter what.

14 Days of Love – Best On Screen Romances

I was on Fandango today looking up showtimes for Percy Jackson and The Lighting Thief when I saw Fandango’s blog and in honour of Valentines Day they were discussing their top five on-screen romances. They had in their top five,

Han Solo and Princess Leia (‘Star Wars’)

Alvy Singer and Annie Hall (‘Annie Hall’)

Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson (‘Grease’)

Jamal and Latika (‘Slumdog Millionaire’)

Joel and Clementine (‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’)

Out of those five couples I only agree with two, Hans Solo and Princess Leia and Jamal and Latika. I was inspired by Fandango’s blog so I decide to post clips of those two couple and my other three favourite couples.

Leia and Hans Solo

Why I Love Them: Because they start like most couples hating each other but their attraction is undeniable. Once they realise they kinda like each other there is no tearing them apart even when one of them is frozen and the other is having issues with her brother. It’s the classic love/hate but I really love you relationship.

Jamal and Latika

Why I Love Them: Four words, this is our destiny. This couple went through so much to be together and they were without each other for big chunks of their lives but in the end they found each other.

Landon and Jamie

Why I Love Them: This was one of the first movies to really make me cry like a baby. While Jamie dies in the end she shows Landon what its like to live with purpose. She shows him how to love and be a better person and he shows her what it feels like to be loved. Both are changed by the love even if they could only be together for a short time

.Sam and JoAnna and the Rest of Love Actually

Why I Love Them: I couldn’t find the clip of Sam and JoAnna at the airport but incase you were wondering Sam and JoAnna are the kids in the movie. I love them because they show love at its purest and simplest. As for the rest of the stories in Love Actually I love them all apart from the porno couple. So if you haven’t seen it you should =]

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy (Both Versions)

Why I Love Them: In literature they are the it couple, totally different but totally right for each other at the same time. I don’t need to tell you their story but I am sure you love it just as much as me. Personally I would love a Mr.Darcy but I guess I have to wait for mine. As far as the Bollywood version it was actually pretty awesome and shows the who Elizabeth/Mr. Darcy in a whole new light.

There are tons of other on screen romances I love like Aragon and Arwen from Lord of the Rings but I wanted to keep it short and sweet. 14 Days of Love - Single on Valentines Day?

First of all let me say I am so sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday! I feel horrible I wanted to make sure I posted everyday for this 14 Days of Love experiment but yesterday I messed up however I do have an excuse about why I didn’t post anything yesterday. So her it is, I was in Sarasota visiting colleges and then when I got home I had to do more college applications online. I was like a walking zombie when I got to the end of that plus it was way past midnight so I just went to my comfy bed. Thus the reason I didn’t post yesterday =[ but then again they do say absence makes the heart grow fonder so maybe me not posting yesterday made you miss me =].

Anyhow since I forgot to post yesterday today I wanted to make sure I gave you some good solid information. At the beginning of February I posted an article on Associated Content about what to do if you’re single on Valentines Day so today I wanted to share it with you. Check it out

Valentine’s Day, the day when love is celebrated worldwide but what happens if on Valentine’s Day you don’t have someone to share it with. The truth is many people are single on Valentine’s Day and in my opinion there are two ways to deal with it. Option number one, sit around and pine for a relationship or option number two enjoy Valentine’s Day anyway. You may ask how this is possible. Indeed many people think that to have a great Valentine’s Day you have to be in a relationship but the truth is Valentine’s Day can be rather fun even if you’re single. So I have created a quick list of sample ideas for having a great Valentine’s Day as a fun-loving single.

#1 – Make it About You

On Valentine’s Day it’s so easy to think about all the other people in relationships but why not make it out you? Being single on Valentine’s Day isn’t a crime and you deserve to enjoy it no matter what. So light some candles, eat some chocolates, take a long bath and watch your favorite movie. Stay in, do what makes you happy and just relax. Don’t think about going out and going through all the Valentine’s Day craziness. Instead make it about you, relax and do whatever makes you happy. As they say just have some me time.

#2 – Make it A Girls Night Out

Even though sometimes it feels like you’re the only single person in the word, it’s very likely that some of your girlfriends are single as well. So instead of everyone sitting around and mopping, why not make it a girl’s night out? Gather all your single friends, get dressed up, hit the town and have some fun! Spending time with your friends is a fun and easy way to spend Valentine’s Day. The truth is relationships come and go but true friends will also be there for you no matter what so go have a great Valentine’s Day celebrating your friendship.

#3 – Make it a Take a Chance Night

There are three kinds of single, single because you want to be, single because there are no prospects on the horizon and single because you’re two afraid to jump into the relationship that’s right in front of you. So I want to discuss the third reason for being single. If there is a guy you really like but he hasn’t made a move yet then you’re the third kind of single. Valentine’s Day is probably one of the best days to take a chance on a relationship. I know it can be scary after all what if he doesn’t feel the same way? He may indeed not feel the same way but if that turns out to be true you won’t have lost anything. In fact you’ve gained something; you’ve gained the ability to move onto the next relationship. However if by chance he does feel the same way then you’ve just jumped into a new relationship that could be quite wonderful. Either way you can finally know if he wants you. So on Valentine’s Day take a deep breath, take a chance and find out if you have a Valentine after all.

I hope those few ideas helped you realize that Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be horrible if you’re single. It might not be perfect but it can still be rather good. So this Valentine’s Day if you have someone, congratulations and if not keep your chin up and go have a fantastic Valentine’s Day anyway.

14 Days of Love - Movie Kind of Love

Its been happening since the invention of the moving picture. In fact its been happening since the first romantic novelist set his pen to paper. Fantasy love is an infection when it comes to entertainment. We all seek that movie kind of love. As a romantic novelist myself I have to defend romance novels. Some are trashy and tacky but I believe the best romance stories are those that are real. In real life the guy can be a jerk, the girl can be a little desperate, he might not come to save you at the last-minute and life may pull you so far apart from each other that you can’t come back together. I believe stories of love based on our real lives are so much better for us. For example Jane Austen was brilliant at making her stories real. In her stories her couples had to get through so much crap in order to be together. Which is exactly like real life.

For a couple to survive you have to get through some major crap no matter how perfect you think you are. Another thing that happens in real life is the guy you think loves you leaves you or the other way around. Jane Austen put that storyline in her books as well think Elizabeth and Mr Wickham. In Pride and Prejudice Elizabeth is pretty much falling in love with Mr. Wickham until it all goes wrong then next thing she knows he shows up married to her sister. Thats pretty messed up even if it were to happen today. Good thing for Elizabeth Mr. Darcy was waiting for her =]

Thats what makes a love story worth reading, when its real. Speaking of movie kind of love, I am beyond excited to see a new movie that just went to DVD called Bright Star. Bright Star is film based on the last three years of the life of poet John Keats, and in particular his romantic relationship with Fanny Brawne. Honestly before seeing the preview for this movie I had heard of John Keats but never read his poetry. So I looked it up and it is quite simply beyond beautiful. Look at the trailer to see what I mean.

Doesn’t it look stunning? I am so excited to see it even though I am pretty sure it ends badly. If you watched it tell me was it good? Anywho my point is this post is that while the movie kind of love may seem amazing I believe it’s the true love of life that is amazing. Sometimes a movie portrays that perfectly others not so much. True love is unpredictable, angry, intense, passionate, painful, glorious and never-ending. If you want to see me definition of true love check out 1 Corinthians 13. So as you go about today be thankful if you have the real kind of love if not feel free to pine over the movie kind of love but know real love is so much better!

14 Days of Love - Loving the Underdog

The Saints won! It was an amazing game and I am so glad the Saints got the victory for New Orléans. So in honor of the Saints Superbowl victory today I wanted to talk about the love of the underdog. The saints were the underdogs in yesterdays Superbowl and throughout history we’ve loved the underdogs.

Most movies, books and other entertainment is based on the underdog winning. So why do we love the underdog so much? I think it’s because when we see the underdog win, we believe its possible for us to win. We all feel like the underdog sometimes when life gets us down its easy to give up but when we decided to fight most of the time we’ll end up winning.

However we have to believe that no matter what, no matter how big the obstacles may seem we will win. So here are a few quotes to inspire the underdog in you.

14 Days of Love - Love of the Game (And the Awesome Ads)

It’s the Superbowl today and I have to admit as an English lass I still think American Football is a weak version of Rugby however this year I can’t help but be excited about the Superbowl. Why you may ask, well the answer is simple, the Saints. I don’t really have a favourite football team and I don’t really follow the NFL but the New Orléans Saints have my attention.

They remind me of the Orlando Magic last year in the NBA playoffs last year. No one had expected the Magic to get into the Playoffs but we did and the city went crazy. It was like the entire city was having a block party and even though we didn’t win the Playoffs it was a great experience for Orlando and besides we’re going to win this year. So the Saints remind me of the Magic and I watched the Vikings VS Saints game. The end of the game was amazing and I believe that the Saints could pull of a cinderella story against the Colts. Technically the Colts are a better team plus they have Peyton Manning but like I said it would be a great win for the Saints and for the city of New Orleans if they could pull of a Cinderella story.

Now the other thing I love about the Superbowl is the ads and I am not alone in my love. The NFL did a survey last year and apparently 51% of people watch the game for the ads. Granted that’s probably all the women watching the game but anywho I decided to put my favourite ads on the 2009 Superbowl in this post. So take a look and enjoy.

14 Days of Love - The Essential Best Friend

As we continue our little experiment about the different kinds of love, I wanted to do the post today about best friends. For me I have two best friends, both utterly amazing both polar opposites of each other. I love both of them like my sisters and I would do anything for them. I believe Best Friends are an essential relationship that everyone should have.

A best friend is someone to laugh with, someone to cry with, someone to ramble on with and someone to live life with. Granted sometimes it takes a while to find that best friend but when you do you should hold onto them with everything you have.

I would say something else really inspirational and witty at this point but the truth is it’s almost midnight and tomorrows the Super Bowl so I need some sleep. So if you have a best friend, hug them and love them. If not go out there and find yourself one =]

14 Days of Love - A Fathers Love

So as we continue our experiment I can’t help but think about the kinds of love other than the romantic kind. For me the love a family shares is invaluable. I know for me if I didn’t have my family my life would be so different. I love my brother, sister and mum more than I could ever tell you but I believe a relationship so many young girls miss out on is the relationship with their father. For me I have been very lucky to have an amazing Dad who even though sometimes I don’t get along with I know no matter what he will be there for me. I know he’ll be ther for me when I need to cry, he’ll be there for me when I fail and when I do well. I know he’ll be there for me after a broken heart and when I am a little crazy. The truth is little girls need their Daddies and even though I am pretty much grown up now I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to grow up without a Daddy to hold, protect and love me.

So today I wanted to celebrate the beauty of a fathers love and there are some pretty incredible stories of a fathers love. However I have two stories that are just beyond incredible and I warn you, you might cry. Never the less take a look at the videos and enjoy the incredible stories.

However Rick learned how to use a computer to speak, at 15 Rick told his Dad he wanted to take part in a 5 mile benefit run. Dick wasn’t a runner but agreed to push Rick in his chair. For the first time in his life Rick didn’t feel handicapped. Now together they compete in marathons and triathlons across America. This is on of the most beautiful stories about a fathers love. Watch the video and you’ll se what I mean. That father is willing to push his body to the absolute limits to be with his son and that son is so happy just to be with his father. Thats love and its beautiful.

Patrick Henry Hughes and His Dad

Patrick Henry Hughes was born without eyes and crippled. Before his first birthday Patrick started playing the piano by sound. It’s actually kinda amazing as you’ll see in the video in fact by his second birthday he was playing requests. His dad decided to help him with his music as he grew up. By the time Patrick arrived at the University of Louisville his musical ability on piano and trumpet was well-known in the city. The school wanted Patrick to play in the marching band but obviously Patrick couldn’t do that on his own. So his father decided he would help his son by pushing Patrick during the routines. His dad does all the work with Patrick, the practices, rehearsals and games. In order to be at every band practice and to sit beside his son in every class Patrick’s father works the grave yard shift for UPS. He goes to work at 11 at night, gets in at 6am and sleeps until 11am where he then takes his son to school. To me thats beautiful, his father basically lives two lives for his son. That kind of love is extraordinary, watch the video to see more.

So today as you go about your business, if your Dad is your life make sure to give him a hug and say I love you and if not think about the love you have with the rest of your family. Love in a family is a beautiful thing and I pray everyone has a family that loves them so they can be surrounded with love.

Its day three of our little 14 Days of Love experiment and its harder than you think to blog every day but today I decided to just search for love. So I hopped on Yahoo and put in Love in the search engine. I have to admit I was pretty curious to see what would come up.

So yes if you ever wanted to know what comes up when you search for love, now you know but what else comes up is WikiQuotes. WikiQuotes is pretty amazing and they have some amazing quotes about love and I decided to share a couple of my favourites.

All of those quotes remind me of the beauty of love and as a single gal it reminds me that I’d rather be single now and have that kind of love later than settle for the average. True love is a rare amazing thing and I don’t think we should ever cheapen it. I have to admit I get pretty annoyed when couples just say they love each other because they think they should. It’s not even as though the couple has to have known each other for a long time (my parents were engaged a month after they met and have been married for 25 years) its more about understanding the meaning of those three words.

If you truly love someone you would through yourself in front of a bus to protect them so all I am saying is lets remember how unique, rare and special love is =]

14 Days of Love - When in Rome

As promised I am blogging everyday up to Valentines Day as part of my 14 Days of Love experiment. So I decided to do a review today simply because I can and I just watched this movie so hey why not talk about it. The movie is When in Rome and yes its a romantic comedy.

It’s actually a pretty cute story and it made me want to go to Rome. So heres the basic plot line, this woman Beth whose a little uptight goes to Rome for her baby sisters wedding. She’s the maid of honor at the wedding and at the wedding she meets Nick, the best man. They both like each other but Beth catches Nick with some Italian girl and so with a bottle of champagne Beth goes to the fountain of love. The legend goes that if you throw a coin in the fountain true love will find you, so Beth decides to take a few coins. However when you take someones coin they fall in love with you.

Beth jets back to New York with the coins, from that point on it’s basically these five guys trying to get Beth to love them in return including Nick. Beth learns that the Italian girl Nick was with was actually the grooms drunk cousin and he was making sure she didn’t mess up the party. So Beth starts to fall for Nick but then she discovers one of the coins she has is Nicks! Thus Beth tries to figure out if Nick really loves her while trying to figure out how to stop the other guys from loving her. I won’t spoil the end for you but its a really cute movie. It has some very sweet moments in it and my favourite scene is the wedding scene before the coin drama happens. Beth and Nick (or Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel) have great chemistry and that scene shows the awesome firsts moments of a relationship. Those moments when you see the guy, share a smile, you feel the butterflies and then suddenly its the start of a relationship.

All in all its a great romantic comedy set in some really beautiful places and it has quite a few laugh out loud moments. I would recommend this movie if you want a fun romantic comedy that reminds you of the beauty of love. 14 Days of Love - The Experiment

As we are all aware, Valentines Day is just around the corner. For me as the author of “The Guys The Roses & The Regrets; The Girl to Girl Dating Guide” Valentines Day is a crazy time because obviously my book is all about love, relationships and dating.

However as Valentines Day draws close I wanted to try an experiment, from today to Valentines Day there are 14 days, usually on these days if you’re a woman one of two things happen. If you’re not in a relationship you pine for one and if you’re in a relationship you expect Valentines Day to be magical with your significant other. The truth is either way we are really focusing on ourselves instead of the beauty of love. While love in relationships is the most popular sort of love there are all sorts of love. In fact did you know the Greeks had 17 different meanings for love. They had 17 kids of love, for example you love your family, you love those new shoes etc.

Its my belief that in todays day and age love is thrown around far two loosely thus cheapening the true value of love. So back to the experiment every day from here to Valentines Day I am going to do a post about love. It might be about the traditional kind of love (in a relationship) and it could be about the other kinds of love we sometimes forget about. The point of this little experiment though is to remember the true beauty of love and how sometimes we get so caught up looking for the traditional kind of love we forget about the love all around us. Don't Be the Playdough In Your Relationships

So Valentines Day is just around the corner and as you know my book "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets; The Girl to Girl Dating Guide" is all about dating and realtionships so Valentines Day is a big day of the year for me. I go to conferences, I do interviews and in general I get the word out about me and my book. The other day I was doing an interview and as always I was talking about how important it is to know who you are before you enter into any romantic relationship. Its important to know who you are because when you go into a relationship you are going to be changed. That relationship is going to affect you whether that be a good or bad thing.

So as I was talking something slipped out I said that if you go into a relationship before you know who you are its kinda like being Playdough. Because you're mushy, easy to change and easy to mess up. You go into the relationship as Playdough and the guy messes with you, changes you, then the relationship doesn't work out and you're left as some weird sculpture (like the one in the photo). All because you were mushy Playdough in the first place! Does that make sense? I thought it was a kinda cool comparision for relationships.

The point of the whole Playdough thing is that you shouldn't be Playdough. You should already be a sculpture before you enter any relationship. You should know who you are, what you stand for, what you want to be, what you want from the relationship and what your boundaries are. Knowing all of these things makes you a firm sculpture before you enter the relationship and of course you are going to alter a little but the guy won't be able to make you into whatever kind of sculpture he wants because you're already a strong sculpture.

I hope that made sense and made you think about relationships. It was just a quick interesting realtionship tip I wanted to share with you so remember don't be the Playdough in your relationships. Know exactly what kind of sculpture you are before you get involved in any relationship =]

Bye Bye 2009 You Were Awesome....But I have Big Plans for 2010

So I had a wonderful christmas with my family and friends. I hope you had a wonderful christmas as well but the new year is just a few days away. I have to admit the new year always freaks me out a little and the older I get the more it freaks me out.

Simply because I look back at the year and see what I could have done.

However as they say coulda, shoulda, woulda. There is no point looking back at the past year and wishing for the things we didn't achieve. Instead we should look at the things we did achieve in the past year. 2009 was actually pretty amazing for me, a lot of things changed(my brother moved to california, my sister went to college etc) but at the same time so many amazing things happened. Here is just a random sampling of the awesome things that happened in 2009.

#1 - The Release of my book "The Guys The Roses &The Regrets; The Girl to Girl Dating Guide"

On Valentines day 2009 my book "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets" was finally released! I cannot tell you how amazing it was to finally have my work out there. After years of working to get it done it was finally done and then in the weeks of its release it became an Amazon best seller. That was the icing on the cake for me. I was so happy people were actually reading my words and being helped by them. So yes the release of my book was by far the best thing to happen to me in 2009.

#2 - Being Featured in WOW Performance Magazine alongside Michelle Obama

I wrote the article for the inaugural WOW Performance Magazine in May 2009 and even after I submitted the article I had no idea who was going to be on the cover. Then in July I was attending a retreat for CEO's in Las Vegas. I knew that the publisher of the WOW performance magazine was going to be there so I e-mailed her before hand and asked about the progress of the magazine.

A week before I left she e-mailed me back and attached the jpeg of the cover of the magazine. I was beyond happy when I saw Michelle Obama on the cover. It was a huge honor to be in the same magazine as the first lady. The publisher also informed me they would be handing out promo copies at the event in Vegas. So when I got to the retreat in Vegas and we got to the day they were handing the magazines out, I was freakishly excited. I got my shiny glossy copy in my hands, flipped to page 16 and there was my article. Then to make it even better people asked me to sign their copies! It was a great experience and a great honor to be featured in the inaugural issue of WOW Performance Magazine alongside Michelle Obama in 2009.

#3 - Being the Featured Author for the Orange County Library System

So this happened just a couple of weeks ago but it was pretty darn cool. I got invited to be one of the featured authors for the Orange County Library System so I had posters up all over Orlando, I had an ad in the Libraries Magazine and I was all over the website. I got to do a talk at the Downtown Orlando Central Library about my book "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets" and afterwards I did a book sale/signing. All in all it was a great experience and helped me to get "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets" out into the Orlando community.

#4 - Starting My Own Online Magazine

Now this one is still a work in progress so thats why its at the end but I did actually start my own online magazine this year. Its a new magazine for teen girls that encourages them to live a remarkable life by realising their own beauty, developing their character and making a lasting difference in the world. The magazine will be officially launched in the first quarter of 2010 but even getting it started was a huge achievement for me in 2009.

So thats just a few things I got done in 2009 and I am very thankful for everything I've achieved. God has blessed me to be able to do all these things and inspire other people along the way. Yet 2010 is just around the corner and I have some big plans for the new year. Granted life has its twists and turns, who knows if I'll get them all done but I think its best to shoot for the moon even if you miss you'll land among the stars. Some of my goals for 2010 are to publish another book (the follow up book to "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets"), get my magazine officially launched, go to Uganda in summer for a mission trip and so much more!

There is so much I want to do and the beautiful part is the new years only just begining. I'll be praying that 2010 turns how to be just as amazing as 2009 but what about you? A Very Merry Christmas to You

Aww Christmas time, I have to admit December is my favourite month of the year. I get my birthday and then two weeks later I get Christmas! Ever since I was little I've adored christmas not only because of the decorations, presents and time with my family but I love christmas because of the story behind it. Regardless of your faith, christmas is all about love.

For me as a christian christmas is about Jesus Christ coming to earth for us which to me is the ultimate act of love. He gave up everything in Heaven to come to our earth knowing full well in 33 years he was going to be nailed to a cross. To me thats amazing love but regardless of your faith I believe christmas should be about love. It shouldn't be about getting the biggest presents or having the best dinner, it should be about showing love to those who need it. Whether thats your family, your friends or the homeless guy living on the street corner.

Christmas started out with an act of love and I think somewhere along the line we forgot that part of the story. So my christmas wish for you is pretty simple I wish for you love. I wish you would receive love but most of all you would have the wonderful experience of showing love to those who need it desperately.

LOVE, get that word into your heart and when your spending time with those you love think about how you could show love. I wish love for you this christmas season. I hope you all have a wonderful christmas filled with love and hope. A very Merry Christmas to you and God Bless,

So Christmas is coming, my decorations are up, my family from England and California are now here and its almost time for me to turn 18. Well like any self respecting best selling author I am going to be doing a fantastic talk about "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets; The Girl o Girl Dating Guide" and then an even more amazing book signing afterwards.

Memories from the Miami Book Fair and The Countdown to New Moon

Hey Everyone,

So I spent the weekend at the Miami Book Fair in the amazing city that is Miami. This was my first book fair and I have to admit it was kind of awesome. I got to meet some pretty amazing authors like Meg Cabot who of course wrote ‘The Princess Diaries’ among other books and I also met Ben H Winters who co authored ‘Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters’

I also made some great contacts for my own books so hopefully I’ll be releasing another book before you know it (fingers crossed). I learnt a lot about what it takes to be a successful author and I loved connecting with all the different authors/publishers/magazines etc. I wanted to film one of my writing tips YouTube videos at the Fair but much to my dismay my video camera died! But have no fear I still did my Writing Tip video and it should be up on YouTube within the next couple of days. All in all the Miami Book Fair was amazing and I hope to be one of the featured authors there one day.

Now I have a confession to make I am so excited for the New Moon movie! I am not excited because of Edward, Bella or the Cullen’s, I am actually really excited to see Jacob be the leading man and taking his shirt off for the most of the move isn’t a bad thing either :p I will be at the movies at midnight to see New Moon and I have a feeling as soon as Jacob comes on the screen there will be many teenage girls screaming with joy. I will infact contain myself and not scream at a cinema screen because unlike many teenage girls I know that even if I screamed at the screen Jacob is not going to jumped out of that screen and suddenly be right in front on me. Anyhow what about you? Do you love or hate New Moon and are you watching it at Midnight? Either way let me know.

Finally I had an idea for my blog, since I am a best selling author and I love to read, I was thinking about doing book reviews. Not really longwinded ones just quick fun reviews about books people either give me or I am just reading for fun. I was thinking about doing this on the last Friday of every month and calling it ‘The Friday Review’ (creative I know ) but let me know what you think of that idea. Love it? Hate it? Or if you have a book you think I should review please let me know =]

Seriously, Love is All You Need

Hey Everyone

So last week I went on a little movie trip, on the Tuesday I watched a new movie called 'To Save a Life' and the day after I watched Hillsong's United new movie 'We're All in This Together' (the one I told you about in my last post)

First off both movies made me cry and secondly both of their messages we're beyond meaningful. The first movie 'To Save a Life' is all about teen suicide and how suicide is now the second leading cause of death for teens. The second movie 'We're all in this together' is all about the global issues such as poverty that we face every day yet most of the time we choose to look away. Both of these issues are big deals and too often get overlooked but do you know what the answer is to all these problems? The answer is simple, LOVE.

I know we all know the Beatles song 'All You Need is Love' but seriously all you need is love. What if we stopped being so focused on our every day and just for a little while choose to look up and see other people’s needs. If we showed love in a practical way not because we had to or we wanted to do our part but because it was part of our character. What if showing love was as natural as looking out for ourselves. What if instead of walking past the homeless guy on the street corner we took a minute to talk to him and learn his story. What if instead of excluding the weirdo who sits by himself at lunch we expanded our circle of friends to let him in.

Would this world be a better place if we focused on showing love in a practical way every chance we got? I believe if people especially teens could show true love this world would be a better place and I am not the only one who believes in love. SUPRISE: Sometimes The Word Isn't Fair

Okay now I am not trying to have a bleak outlook here but today I had one of those moments, a moment when you suddenly realise how blessed we are to live in this country and how so many are not quite so blessed.

So I love the band Hillsong United and I was wandering their website when I saw the link for their new film I Heart: We're All in This Together. Curiosity got the better of me and I just had to click the link to the trailers. When I arrived on the trailers page, I clicked one called Moment and I was crying within seconds. I can't explain how powerful this trailer is so I wanted to show you

Did you cry? I sure did, as you know I went to South Africa on a mission trip in 2008and this four minute video brought me back to exactly where I was in those squatter camps in Joberg, South Africa. I remembered thinking as I held African orphans how unfair it was that those children that had done nothing to deserve being in that situation where they were fighting to survive everyday and then you come to the West and kids are complaining about their computer dying or being unpopular in school!

I know its hard to look up from our own lives but when you look at the children all around the world who have nothing, how can we say this world is fair? Now here's the surprise, sometimes the world isn't fair! We cannot take those children in Africa and simply move them to the suburbs of America but what we can do is refuse to let them go unnoticed.

We can do our part here in the West to let it be now that there is more to life then TV, FaceBook, Cell Phones and Having the Most Friends. This world is at the end of the day all about showing Love and I think its about time we starting showing some love for those who are all too easily forgotten.

Not Your Average Teen But Thats Okay

So I spent the last week on a cruise to Mexico for a family vacation which was pretty much fantastic but I also learnt something this week. I am not your average teen of course I already knew that but as I spent time with the rest of the teens on the cruise it was all of a sudden apparent to me this week just how different I am.

For example I haven't been drunk or gotten high in any point in my life and I haven't had a major horrible messy break up. I know being a teen is all about having fun but I also think just cause your a teen doesn't give you an excuse to waste the life you've been given. I love having a good time, I love dancing to the wee hours of the morning and I love laughing till it hurts but I don't need drugs or drink to make that happen. Is that so crazy that someone could actually be high off life?

I don't think so I believe every day is a gift and ever moment is worth living to the full and by that I mean take the responsibility to be happy and have fun without using any shortcuts (drink, drugs) along the way.

I've done some pretty amazing things in my life so far i.e write a best selling book, go on mission trips to south africa etc and I plan to do even more so even though I am not normal I am very grateful for that. After all not many seventeen year olds have done the things I've done and I know that every moment of joy I experience is even sweeter because its simply a result of the life I am choosing to live every single day =]

Hola People!

I haven't blogged in a while and I know you all missed me :P but anywho I had a pretty crazy week in the fabulous Las Vegas! I spent the week chilling at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Vegas. Well in fact I wasn't even chilling, I was networking a.k.a working like crazy to make awesome connections for "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets"

I was in Vegas from last Monday for a week at an amazing business conference called 'CEO Space' and they have a truly wonderful teen program which I've been taking part in since July 2007. This was my fifth time attending the TEEN program and as always it was more then I could hope for.

I spent the week learning about business and networking with CEO's. I sold copies of my best selling book "The Guys The Roses & The Regrets", I saw my article in Women of Wisdom Performance Magazine (Michelle Obama is on the front cover!) for the first time, I got contacts for speaking in schools and colleges and I got sponsors for my new project!

I love attending CEO Space and all the connections I make there BUT don't worry I also have some fun, I promise. I will be letting you guys know about my new project and my article in Women of Wisdom Performance Magazine soon but for now I just want to say one last thing, VIVA LAS VEGAS!

Britains Got Talent Winner, Orlando Magic Through to the Finals and New Moon Trailer. I am so excited!

Hey Guys,

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, life got kind of crazy but now I have some catching up to do. Okay so on the final of Britains Got Talent, Julian Smith, Susan Boyle and Diversity were the top three acts. Now most of America was expecting Susan to win such she'd had such an amazing following over the last couple of months but the British Public shocked the world when they voted for Diversity to win!

Diversity are an amazing group of talented dancers who perform the most creative dances you've ever seen. You can look them up on YouTube just put in Britains Got Talent Diversity and you'll be able to see their audition, semi final and final performance. Although Susan Boyle was Amazing, I do believe Diversity deserved the win and I truly hope both Susan and Diversity go on to do great things.

Now in more local news (well for me anyway) my home team the Orlando Magic became the NBA Eastern Champs this past week when we beat the Cavillers and LeBron James! It was a crazy night here in Orlando, fans spilled out from the Amway Arena out into the streets of downtown Orlando. The police had to close the streets down because every road was full of crazy happy Orlando Magic fans. So the Orlando Magic and the city of Orlando is on a high as we move towards the finals with the L.A Lakers. Its kinda funny actually because my brother lives in L.A and I am in Orlando so we're both rooting for the two different teams =] But I think Orlando can win and it would be such a boost for the city, I am supporting the Magic all the way and I hope we win the series. GO MAGIC!

The final thing I am going to blog about today is pretty awesome. So just this morning I woke up, grabbed a muffin and orange juice, I sat down at my computer, opened up Myspace and there it was in all its glory. The new official Trailer for New Moon! I am beyond excited for the second movie in the Twilight Saga and now I've seen the trailer I am even more excited! I wanted you guys to see the trailer as well so here it is, enjoy!

May I just say Taylor looks really good (Selena is a lucky girl :P) and the way he morphs into his werewolf self is pretty awesome. They did a really good job on making it look real. The Underdog Takes It All!

This week has been a week of the underdog winning no matter what and I love it!

On American Idol everyone was sure Adam Lambert was going to win, I mean he had a cover on Entertainment weekly for heavens sake! It looked like a sealed deal but just at the last moment it wasn't Adam Lambert who was crowned the next American Idol but the kid no one thought could win, Kris Allen!

It was a total suprise but I loved it. American Idol actually was a good show to watch that night because of the suprise win.

In other news on Britians Got Talent (my favourite show by the way) Susan Boyle the internet sensation made it through to the finals. She sang Memories from the play Cats on the Semi Finals and Great Britain voted her through to the finals. So yes this week the underdogs have been winning it all and that makes me very happy.

Cute Couple Alert: Selena Gomez and Taylor Lautner

So no one really knows if Selena and Taylor are actually a couple or are just hanging out but either way teenage girls everywhere have accepted them as the new it couple and they already have a name, Taylena,

Isn't that adorable? Of course being a fan of the Twilight series and a huge fan of Jacob Black, I did want Taylor for myself but if I have to give him up for someone I suppose Selena will do lol:P.

No but seriously I saw the photo of them about a week ago and they just looked so cute and happy. Then I read how they'd been hanging out and visiting each other on set and I was like awwwww. If they are dating they will be a total power couple in young hollywood and if they're just friends then thats cool two after all that leaves Taylor for me lol :p but I think they might just have something together.

My Star Trek Review

So yesterday, my sister, my mum and I celebrated Mothers day a day late but it was still so much fun!Anywho at the end of the day we watched the new 'Star Trek' movie and may I just say its beyond awesome.

It makes you cry, it makes you laugh, the action is crazy good and on top of it all the new Captain James T Kirk (A.K.A Chris Pine) is so good looking its ridiculous. I really like the movie I think it paid tribute to the original series yet still made an entirely new movie with an awesome new cast.

I loved the movie and this was my random post for today, so yes if you haven't seen the movie yet you should go see it you won't regret it,

Following My Own Advice

The Crisis in Uganda and How You Can Help Make A Difference!

In today’s modern world, we’re used to things being a certain way, to things being right and fair. We’re used to the underdog winning and justice always being served but unfortunately in some parts of the world, in places we in our everyday lives rarely think about, horrific things are happening to children who have no way of escape.

The reason for the post is simple, I want to tell you guys about a crisis that is happening in a country called Uganda, a crisis that compared to lets say the economy rarely gets as much media coverage simply because what’s happening in Uganda may make you sad, uncomfortable and concerned but the story of the children in Uganda needs to be known.

In Uganda, like any other country there are children who live their lives unconcerned with the problems with adults but in the villages and towns of Uganda, something is happening, War Lords only concerned with their own profit and gain, come through the villages and take the children.

Once the children are taken, they put a gun in their hands and force them to fight. Threatened with dearth and torture, these children as young as seven are forced to do things no grown man in the west would even consider. It’s also almost impossible for these children to escape because if they’re caught they are killed or worse, some of the child armies force siblings to mutilate each other when they tried to escape.

I mean think of it this way, let’s say your safe at home then all of a sudden, men with guns burst into your home, they take you plus your younger siblings. They beat or kill your parents then put a gun in your hands and tell you to do as they say or they will kill you. Imagine if there were armies of children with guns roaming the countryside of America, can you imagine all the riots and protests there would be for those children’s protection?

But this isn’t happening in America, its happening in Uganda a country that seems an entire world away but everyday in Uganda horrific things are happening to these children but you have the chance to make a difference for these children and help them escape the horrors of war.

This summer in June, I will be returning to the Mission Field specifically Uganda, I will be going with Global Expeditions ( the same organization I went to South Africa with) and we will be working in the refugee camps with the few children who were looking enough to escape the child armies. We will be building shelters, providing food, medicine and clothing. We will be showing these children that someone does care about them and wants them to have a better life.

However the cost for this trip is around $5,000 and I do not have the amount, so I am asking you to be a part of my mission trip with me, to send me on your behalf to Uganda to help change the life’s of these children and in turn change the world.

My first deadline for this trip is May 4th when I have to have in half ($2,500) of my amount into my organization (Global Expeditions), if I don’t have half my amount in by May 4th I cannot go. My TOP 5 Low Cost Date Ideas for Dating on a Budget in a Down Economy!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know the economy is going through a rough patch but yes people are still dating. Yet with the average movie ticket being $10 a pop now, dating is no cheap affair or is it?

Its my personal belief that you can have some pretty fantastic dates without having to spend a fortune, all you need is the right setting, a fantastic date and a little bit of cash. (In fact some of these dates don’t even require you to spend anything!)

So since my new book ‘The Guys The Roses & The Regrets’ is all about dating the right way, I decided to share with you guys my TOP 5 dates on a budget. Enjoy!

1. A Day at the Beach or A Midnight Stroll at the Beach

Ahh, the warm sun on your back, the cool waves crashing against you and your date in next to nothing, not bad huh? The beach is a great fun filled day or few hours with your date and the plus side, it hardly costs anything! Of course there are opportunities to spend like renting tents, chairs surf boards and there are plenty of restaurants at the beach but you don’t have to! You can just as easily bring your own stuff and bring a cooler with your own food in it. The beach during the day is awesome (just don’t forget to use your sunscreen) but it’s also just as awesome at night.

For me, night time strolls on the beach with the gentle sound of rolling waves, the soft sand between your toes and the moon shining is quite simply magical! Its also costs nothing to walk on a beach of course if you want to spend a little, you can always have a meal at the beachside restaurant then go for your nighttime stroll, either way its pretty special and costs next to nothing!

2. Picnics

If of course you don’t happen to live near a coast or beach, there is always the classic picnic. Now I know hardly anyone does picnics anymore and some might find them a tad cheesy but I still love them. You see if you pick the right day, it can be beautiful, fun and you actually get to connect with your date. I mean any guy can take you to the classic dinner/movie combo but really do you get to talk, to connect. In the restaurant its busy crowded and you’re more concerned with when you’re meal is getting there then your date and then in the movie well you’re watching the movie you don’t exactly have a heart to heart during Watchmen.

So even though it’s a little old fashioned I think picnics are a great low budget date that allows you and your date to talk and truly connect.

3. Movies in Unusual Places

So where I live in Orlando, Fl there are places like an amazing garden called Leu Gardens where they show classic romance movies on a screen in the middle of the gardens and it is very inexpensive but really special.

There is also a movie house which shows movies that are a few months old and on certain days (like Tuesdays) the cost of a movie ticket is a grand total of $1.50

That’s what I mean by Movies in unusual places, they might not be the current blockbusters but they are still entertaining awesome movies and so much cheaper then going to the regular movie theatre.

All you have to do is a little internet searching to find somewhere in your hometown where they are showing a movie for next to nothing in an unusual place. It’ll make for a special one of a kind date and it won’t hurt your wallet.

4. Weekend Festivals

Now to ensure both people have fun on this low budget date make sure you know what kind of festival you’re going to, after all your guy probably won’t be too crazy over a craft fair and your girl probably won’t go crazy over a monster truck rally. But if you can find a weekend festival in your town that’s on neutral ground, there are a great way to spend a few hours relaxing looking at interesting vendors and having fun.

But beware at Festivals there will be a lot of people wanting you to buy their product but to keep the date low budget don’t give in. Just smile and move on, I would also suggest eating before you go to your festival since a hot dog at a weekend festival can run up to $6.

5. Battle of The Bands

If you’re a lover of music and you’re strapped for cash this is the perfect date for you! Most small clubs at some point host a Battle of The Bands, I know in Orlando there is one every couple of weeks in a bar or club. Well generally these Battle of the Bands feature new up and coming local talent who are giving it their all for a grand prize whatever it may be and for the price of an admission ticket you get to watch them battle it out.

Some Battle of The Bands are all day affairs and cost from $10 - $20 for the whole day or some are just for the night and can be as low as $5. Either way for fantastic music, great atmosphere and the chance to say I heard them first it’s not bad. This is one of my favorite dates because I get to spend time with an amazing guy listening to some amazing music, what could be better?

So that’s my top 5 (in no particular order) low cost dates. A bad economy shouldn’t be a reason to stop having great fun filled dates and I hope this little blog gave you some good ideas for any future dates you may have. So Sick of the Bachelor

The names Grace Hatton and this a rant all about The Bachelor =]

Okay so another season of Bachelor just wrapped up and can I be the first to say, make it stop. I know we all love reality TV Shows, we all love a good old catfight and in the end we all love the idea of watching two soulmates find each other on national TV but the fact is out of all the Bachelors and the Bachelorettes, only one of the couples have actually got married, stayed together and started a family. That was the first Bachelorette Trista who is now happily married to the winner Ryan and they have a son together.

But almost every other Bachelor or Bachelorette is still single or has moved onto someone else who was never on the show. Now the latest Bachelor Jason has decided not to marry or be with the winner Melissa. Oh and he also decided he still had feelings for the runner up Molly and then decided to make out with Molly on national TV minutes after taking back the engagement ring from Melissa! I am pretty ticked off about the whole Bachelor franchise in general but that was just the icing on top of the cake, I mean seriously at least take Molly back off the air and leave Melissa with a little bit of self respect.

I think its safe to say The Bachelor franchise generally does not help couples find love in truth it breaks more hearts then any other TV show. So yes I am so sick of The Bachelor and the whole process.

There are plenty of other good TV shows out there reality or not that need some airtime, so how about we let The Bachelor take its final bow and get a new show thats actually worth watching.

An Update on My New Book 'The Guys The Roses & The Regrets'

Hey Everyone,

So its been a while since my last post and life has gotten pretty busy, I got my drivers license, I've been doing a lot of school work, I've been working with my publisher to get my new book 'The Guys The Roses & The Regrets' out asap, my big brother is moving to california for a while and of course we had christmas so all in all I've been pretty busy but I wanted to give you guys an update about my new book 'The Guys The Roses & The Regrets'

Like I said I've been working hard with my publisher and finally all the editing is done! I am very excited about that and so now we have moved onto the cover of the book. We have been busy desigining the cover and making sure the cover is appealing.

As soon as we finish up the cover design (which should be within the next week or so) we will move onto to legal and marketing.

I am hoping to have 'The Guys The Roses & The Regrets' in stores by Valentines Day and I hope when it is released you will go check it out!

I am back from South Africa! Read this to find out all the details!

Hello all my faithful readers,

So I am officially back! After one month of life changing experiences in South Africa, I have a renewed passion for life and for my God.
I met the most incredible people in the most dyer circumstances but now that I have seen, I am responsible to be a voice for those people.

In this blog post I will let you know what happened in South Africa and now you will know how many lives we're changed and the passion for life that was ignited within me.
So After 40 hours of travelling, me and my team, which was a group of 68 arrived in Johannesburg or Joberg as I am now used to calling it. We stayed in Joberg one night before we took a very crowded five hour bus ride to a village called Estcourt which is a Zulu township. Estcourt is nestled in the mountains of South Africa thus making it very very cold.

Since South Africa is in the Souther Hemisphere, it was winter when I was there. So yes we slept on the floor of an African church, there we're no showers and our toilets we're holes in the ground. We had some interesting times at those toilets and there are a million stories I could tell but I won't because it might just gross you put two much.

Anywho every morning we got up at 5:15 a.m (it was extremely cold at 5:15a.m) so we could quickly eat breakfast and get to the Zulu high schools. At the schools the youngest was around 9 and the oldest was 20. Small groups of four or five went into individual classes and taught a lesson. My group was teaching a lesson all about history and decisions

At one point during the lesson we asked the kids to get in groups of five and write down three easy decisions and three hard decisions. One girl who was the same age as me wrote down for her hard decision whether or not to kill herself. That broke my heart, she was so young yet already she was willing to give up her life. South African teens have issues facing them that most American adults don't have to deal with. I talked to many of the girls in smaller groups and it made me realize, my life is so easy.

These girls are the same age as me yet their world is so different. However one thing is universal, boys. Me and the other two girls in my group talked about relationships and abstinence almost every day in the Zulu schools. All the South African girls we're curious as to what is was like in the States. We had some very interesting conversations and a few girls told me because of us talking to them they had chosen to save themselves for marriage.

We we're also told we we're an inspiration, we talked about relationships, about businesses, about their dreams and their passions. Every single one of them have such incredible spirits and I am truly blessed to have known them.

The Zulu blessed me truly and I will never forget those teenagers who although they face many so many challenges, never give up. They are determined to live good lives, to make their dreams come true and change their country for the better.

Our second part of the mission trip was back in Joberg in an area called The Squatter Camp or Diepsloot. The Squatter camp is an area just outside of the city where people who are basically homeless are allowed to set up tin shacks to live in, however when the government says move, they must move. The shacks are 10 by 10 with no electricity, no plumbing, no running water and usually no windows.

There is water pumps in the squatter camps but they are in the middle of the camps, so the people have to walk up to five miles to get their water. Diepsloot is a large squatter camp, it has 300,000 people in a very small area. There are no streets simple mud walkways with filth running down the center inbetween the shacks. The filth smelt so bad the first day I was there, I almost threw up and some of the other girls in our group actually did.

At the squatter camps our mission was simple, to help these people in any way we could and love on them. Once again we we're in small groups of four to five with a translator since in the Squatter Camps there we're many different languages spoken.

We spent eight hours in the squatter camps everyday, we built shacks, we cooked, we did a kids program in the middle of the camp, we carried water, we washed dishes, we held babies in our arms, we washed clothes with our hands, we dug holes for toilets, and we prayed for anyone who wanted it.

In that place where almost everyone we talked to had the most dyer circumstances, I found the most incredible people and I found peace. There was one shack we went to, where a single mother had five month old twins, a boy and girl. There names meant Happiness.

So I was holding the girl twin in my arms, another member of my group was holding the boy twin, another was doing laundry with the mother, another was chopping wood and this little baby I was holding was looking into my eyes. She had the biggest most curious brown eyes I had ever seen, a gentle wind washed over us and I felt utter peace. I could have stayed there forever, holding Happiness in my arms.

I worked so hard while we we're in the squatter camps and for a little while nothing was about me. It was all about them, those people in the squatter camps who had been praying for some help to come. Before we went out to work my group leader would always say "Today you have the opportunity to bless people and change the world. Go for broke and hold nothing back."

I held nothing back at the Squatter camps and I know in my own little way, I changed the world.

So I've been a Christian and in church my whole life. So I've always heard "Go on a mission trip, it will change your life'

I never really understood that until now. When you chose to take time out of your schedule to give back to others, when you spend time in the most basic living circumstances, when you don't have the media influencing you for a while, when you see girls with their shoes worn out because they walked two hours to school every morning, when you talk to mothers who have to do the unthinkable to feed their families and when you hold weeping starving children in your arms, you change. You are no longer who you we're

After all 'When you do things you've never done, you become what you never were"

I am a changed person and now that I have seen what I have, I am responsible. I am responsible to let the world know about my journey, to let the world know about the children that I held in my arms and the people I prayed for.

I believe this trip to South Africa was the first of many, I now have a passion to help as many people as I can in as many countries as possible. It may seem like an impossible task but with God nothing is impossible.

I can no longer sit back and wish for the world to change. I have to truly be the change I want to see in the world. I have to get up, get out of my comfortable life and go!

In South Africa, I fell in love with life, people and my God again. I am forever changed, I now have an incredible passion for people, for my God and for life.

The last thing I want to say in this blog is something one of the teenage girls wished upon me, now I am wishing it for you and I hope it blesses you as much as it did me.

Miley's racy Photos

Okay so usually I am not into celebrity gossip and I am by no means a blogger who focus is on celebs.

However I just saw Miley Cyrus’s new photos for Vanity Fair and I’d thought I’d share my opinion on the whole situation.

First of all the thing we all have to remember is that although Miley Cyrus is living the life of a superstar she is still only fifteen and her fans are even younger.

The controversial photo of Miley wearing nothing more than a sheet is spreading like wildfire and I am sure it won’t take long until all her ten year old fans see it.

These young girls look up to Miley, the respect her and want to be her. So when they see Miley posing like that in a photo, they assume its cool and they’ll want to do it two.

That is the problem with Miley’s photos, she is two young to be posing for a photo like that simple because of the amount of influence she has.

With great power comes great responsibility and celebrities these days have great power, because whether we like to admit it or not, celebs influence a lot of our daily decisions.

Especially if you’re a kid or teen, you want to be like your favorite actress, model or singer. It’s that simple, Miley Cyrus is in a position of great power and great responsibility.

I understand why she took the photos though, after all like I said before she’s living the life of a superstar.

So even though she is fifteen, she probably feels a lot older and wants an older fan base. If she had however waited another two or three years to take these photos it would not have been such a big deal. However she didn’t and now she’s taking the heat for it.

All I can hope is that her fans don’t take to posing like that for photos.

So yeah that’s my opinion on Miley’s photos, keep checking back for my opinion on other things and updates on The Guys, The Roses & The Regrets.

Recently I have been reading up on how to publicize your book, which is something I need to know since I have a book and all. One thing the experts say you must have is a silver bullet. A Very Merry Christmas In L.A

So Christmas is upon us and I truly hope you are all filled with cheer. I know I am filled with cheer because I am trotting off to California baby. So far my journey to L.A as been quite amazing actually, so many people from all over the country have stepped up and helped me accomplish my dreams.

In L.A I’ll be meeting with some of the top people in my industry to get publicity for my book, I also got a new haircut today and if I do say so myself its looks pretty darn good. So yes I am filled with cheer this holiday season and I hope you are two.

The Christmas season is a time filled with love, hope and joy, a time when we take a deep breath and reflect. So to all of you around this great country, whether you be sitting in snow or chilling in the sun, a very merry Christmas and to all a goodnight.

Guess What? People Really Do Care!

Hello Peoples,

I have no idea who reads this blog but hey what the heck I am a writer so I shall write even if no one reads. Okay so something new hit me today, the fact that people really do care. Recently I've been doing some fundraising to get to an even in L.A. At first I thought hey no ones going to help me and slowly people actually started to help.

I was amazed at how many people actually want to help a young author so I am dedicating this blog to everyone that has helped me over these past few weeks, you all know who you are. I also want everyone to know that when I am succesful I will help people who truly need it. I was sit high above everyone else and judge. No sir ree, I will be love. I will be as my savior wanted me to be.

So to everyone who helped me, I want you to know you truly are the stars of this world. Not A List celebs who show at fashion shows and get their picture taken, you are the stars.

A Letter All About Grace Hatton!

Dear Friend:

Remember when you were 15 years old? I don’t know about you, but I was consumed with life as a kid: playing with kids around the neighborhood, trying to be cool in high school, complaining about my parents, dealing with boyfriend-girlfriend issues—stuff like that.

I just had a conversation with a 15-year-old girl who’s playing life at a much higher level than that, and she needs our help. Perhaps you know Grace Hatton. She’s the girl with the British accent who’s working on getting her own book published.

Grace moved to the U.S. with her family when she was 11. She left her world, her friends and the rest of her family behind to come to a new country and start a new life. Grace has been here for a few years, but she still feels like she’s “new” here. She doesn’t have a big support network to call on.

Getting published is hard enough, but imagine trying to do it while you’re still a kid…

The good news is that Grace has a message. She wants to publish a book on dating for teens—but with a new twist. It’s a book written for teen-age girls by a teen-age girl.

So far it hasn’t been easy. Without a big network of friends and family, Grace says it’s been difficult but she has a shot at making the connections that can help her book be successful.

I also asked Grace what she would do when she is succesful. Her answer was all about helping others—about giving back. She wants to help other teens connect and gain confidence. In the long run, she wants to do seminars to help young girls. She also wants to help set up orphanages in Africa.

There is something about Grace that makes me believe she is capable of doing this, and that she is genuine about it.

As I said before, all my posts will have random titles. So I thought I'd give you an update on the progress on my book. Its been an interesting week. I am ordering my promo copies of my book, so I can get my celeb endorsements. I am hoping to get some big names who like my book, I am owrking really hard on getting the word out, so thats been fun. However whats really interesting is this week, an old publisher who had dropped because they didn't offer me a very good deal, contacted me this week and they are interested in making me a better offer.

I feel loyal to my new publisher though, so I am not sure whats going to happen but fear not The Guys, The Roses and The Regrets will be out soon.

Some Kind of Fairytale

So today, I had a major fall out with someone close to me and it got me thinking. When we were kids, we all believed in Cinderella, all believed Prince Charming was coming. When we were kids, we had no reason to doubt that our fairytale wouldn't come true. However as we grow, as life takes its toll we begin to doubt our fairytale, doubt our happy ever after.

As the world throws its disappointment and hurt at us, we doubt. I think the true test of our spirit is if we keep believing. Fairytales were never perfect, there was always a promblem in the fairytale but what made it a true fairytale was the face it turned out perfect in the end.

This world wil never be perfect, we will never be perfect but we can believe. We can believe that our fairytale will somehow, somewhere come true. We can believe that we can be the hero of our own life, a hero who never gives up on their own dream. A hero who keeps believing no matter how how strong or painful our disapoointments are.

If we can all be our own hero than perhaps we can all have some kind of fairytale.

A fairytale that is far more wonderful than any storybook.
